Laser World of Photonics

Every two years, the International Trade Fair for Optical Technologies and the World of Photonics Congress bring together the world’s leading personalities in the photonics industry. The 2015 fair will revolve around the focus topics of Lasers and Laser Systems for Production Engineering, Biophotonics and Medical Technology and Illumination and Energy. The World of Photonics Congress also deals with these topics in a series of conferences. As part of the congress, once again application panels that focus on solution approaches based on optical technologies will be held in the photonics forums in the exhibition halls.
G&H, JDSU and ROFIN had booths at this event! Andrew Robertson gave a presentation on the project.

2015 International Congress on Ultrasonics 
10-15 May-2015; Metz, France 
The congress will be held at l’Arsenal and is hosted by Georgia Tech Lorraine in collaboration with the French Acoustical Society. The 2015 ICU will gather the very top researchers in the field of ultrasonics and will present a modern scientific program combining established research topics in combination with the newest emerging subjects.
G&H presented a paper on ISLA acousto-optic devices.

SPIE Photonics West is the largest conference for optoelectronics, photonics, microfabrication, lasers, and biomedical optics. Sub-conferences include: BiOS (includes biomedical optics, photonic therapeutics and diagnostics, tissue optics, laser-tissue interaction, microscopy, and imaging) and LASE (includes laser source engineering, nonlinear optics, laser applications, high powered lasers, materials processing).

NANOSMAT is a key conference in the field of materials related nanoscience, engineering and nanotechnology.   There are five symposia: Nanomaterials; Surface, Science, Engineering and Technology; Nanotechnology for Energy; Nano-Medicine and Nano-Biotechnology; and, most importantly for ISLA: Carbon Nanotechnology. This year TCD will host the event.

NPO 2014
Fourth International Workshop on Nanocarbon Photonics and Optoelectronics 
28 Jul to 01-Aug-2014; North Karelia, Finland
Both fundamental and application problems related to the photonic and optoelectronic applications of nanocarbon materials have recently attracted attention of the research community worldwide. The NPO2014 is the fourth workshop in series of meetings devoted to recent advances in this field. Of particular relevance to ISLA are the topics of photonics and optoelectronics with graphene and graphene nanoribbons, carbon nanotube photonics and electronics and nonlinear optics and spectroscopy of nanocarbon materials.

Photonics Europe
14-17 Apr-2014; Brussels, Belgium
This large European event covers micro/nano technologies , organic photonics, bio- and neurophotonics , highly integrated and functional photonic components, advances in laser and amplifier technologies and photonics in industrial applications. There will be over 1500 presentations presented at 18 conferences .

ISLA had a booth at this event and Gary Stevens (G&H) presented a paper on “Fibre laser component technology for 2-micron laser systems”.

FiSC/IADL 2014 
8th International Laser Symposium 2014
27-28 Feb-2014; Dresden, Germany
This year two events organised by the Fraunhofer IWS will be combined: “Industrial Applications of High-Power Diode Lasers” and “International Laser Symposium Fiber & Disc.” (FiSC). These events bring together a wide variety of important players in the laser market, with a strong industrial flavour to the proceedings.
ISLA had a joint booth with HALO at this event and Gary Stevens from G&H presented on “High power fibre laser components for 2 um applications.”

ICT 2013
ICT 2013 – Create, Connect, Grow
06-08 Nov-2013; Vilnius, Lithuania
More than 4000 researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, industry representatives, young people and politicians are expected in Vilnius. The event will focus on Horizon 2020 – the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation for 2014-2020. This is the vehicle through which ISLA is funded.
There was an ISLA booth at the event: 4D1!

 

SPIE Security & Defence

This major event includes technological advancements in the areas of sensing, data and signal analysis, tracking and targeting, communications, networks, sensor platforms, energy topics, materials and more. Co-located with SPIE Remote Sensing. Of particular interest for ISLA, there is a 2 micron session in the Technologies for Optical Countermeasures conference.

NANOSMAT
22-25 Sep-2013; Granada, Spain
NANOSMAT is a key conference in the field of materials related nanoscience, engineering and nanotechnology.   Since 2005, it has been very successfully organised in several European countries, including Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Poland and Czech Republic. The conference fosters the gathering of international people to exchange novel ideas, share new knowledge and technical know-how in the broad fields of nanoscience and technology.   There are five symposia: Nanomaterials; Surface, Science, Engineering and Technology; Nanotechnology for Energy; Nano-Medicine and Nano-Biotechnology; and, most importantly for ISLA: Carbon based Nanostructures.

WSOF 2013
3rd Workshop on Specialty Optical Fibers and their Applications
28-30 Aug-2013; Sigtuna, Sweden
WSOF 2013 is a technical workshop and exhibit on advances and innovations in the field of specialty optical fibres and their appliciations. Just like the two previous workshops in the series, it brings together students and researchers from academia and industry, with an interest in fibre optics.   The three day event will offer plenary and invited talks, tutorials, as well as contributed and poster papers.  Industrial partners are invited to expose their latest technology and product offerings in the exhibition.

CLRC 2013
17th Coherent Laser Radar Conference
17-20 Jun-2013; Barcelona, Spain
This conference will emphasise the latest advances in the coherent laser radar field, including theory, modeling, components, systems, instrumentation, measurements, calibration, data processing techniques, operational uses, and comparisons with other remote sensing technologies.   In order to allow for information exchange with other disciplines, contributions in related coherent optical technologies and applications are also encouraged. This is potentially an application area for 2 um fibre laser technology.

WONTON 2013
5th International Workshop on Nanotube Optics and Nanospectroscopy

The workshop will focus on the optical studies on nanotubes and graphene, which will include:  light absorption, emission, and scattering; Raman spectroscopy; carrier interactions, band structure and optical spectra; excitons in carbon nanotubes; spectroscopy of individual nanotubes; magneto- and electro-optics; nanotube-based optoelectronic devices and electroluminescence; growth, purification and separation of nanotubes for optical studies;  and spectroscopy of graphene.
