ISLA coordinator G&H wins IOP prize for Q-switch technology
G&H received a notable prize recently: its “Fiber-Q” product won the IOP Award for Innovation. As the press release states:
“Gooch & Housego are proud to announce that the Fiber-Q was given the prestigious Institute of Physics (IOP) Award for Innovation at a ceremony at the London based Institute in October. The award winning fiber coupled acousto-optic modulator was then presented to members of both Houses of the British Parliament at an event on November 27 hosted by Baroness Neville-Rolfe, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills; Lady Audrey Wood, Co-founder and former Director of Oxford Instruments and Dr Frances Saunders, IOP President.”
The Fibre-Q platform was a stepping stone used in the development of ISLA prototype devices at 2 um, and ISLA technology is in the 2 um version of the Fiber-Q which will extend the product range.
